If you already own a skincare product and want to know it’s genuine, you don’t have to guess. Here’s how to verify it — and how TheSkinProof makes verification part of every order.
1. Find the batch number
Look on the bottom or back of the product/box for a printed batch code (often near the expiry date). Genuine products always have one; many fakes have a smudged, missing, or mismatched code.
2. Check it with TheSkinProof’s Product Checker
Open our free Product Checker and enter the product name or batch info. It screens against BSTI-certified manufacturers, tracked product standards, and a list of known banned/mercury-contaminated products — so you instantly see whether something is authentic, suspicious, or banned.
3. Verify the QR batch card (TheSkinProof orders)
Every TheSkinProof parcel ships with a QR-coded batch card. Scan it or enter the code (e.g. “SP-0002-26”) on our Authenticity page — it confirms the exact product and that it passed our verification.
4. Cross-check on the brand’s website
Big brands (CeraVe, COSRX, The Ordinary) let you check batch codes on their official sites or apps. If a code returns nothing, be suspicious.
5. Inspect the physical signs
Sharp, embossed printing; an intact seal/hologram; correct fonts and colors; an expiry at least a year out. Soft, blurry, or peeling labels are red flags. (More in how to spot fake skincare.)
The easiest path: buy pre-verified
You can skip all of this by buying from The Skin Proof — every product is invoice-verified and batch-checked before it ships, and backed by a 2× money-back guarantee. Browse verified products.
Before you buy: check authenticity, not price
Don’t chase the cheapest product — look for the authentic one. A cheap fake can damage your skin, and using nothing at all does less harm than using a counterfeit. But a high price doesn’t guarantee authenticity either — people overpay for fakes too. So judge by authenticity, not price.
TheSkinProof offers free authenticity verification. Message our Facebook page with the product and we’ll analyze it and tell you whether it’s real or fake — so it’s important to verify before you buy anything. Or simply buy from TheSkinProof, where every product is already invoice-verified with a 2× money-back guarantee.
