1. Find the batch number
Look on the bottom or back of the product/box for a printed batch code (often near the expiry date). Genuine products always have one; many fakes have a smudged, missing, or mismatched code.
2. Check it with TheSkinProof’s Product Checker

4. Cross-check on the brand’s website
Big brands (CeraVe, COSRX, The Ordinary) let you check batch codes on their official sites or apps. If a code returns nothing, be suspicious.
5. Inspect the physical signs
Sharp, embossed printing; an intact seal/hologram; correct fonts and colors; an expiry at least a year out. Soft, blurry, or peeling labels are red flags. (More in how to spot fake skincare.)
