Quick answer
In three days you can fix hydration, flakiness, chapped lips and puffiness. You cannot fix pigmentation, acne scars or texture. Stop all actives now, sleep, hydrate — and do not book a facial.

Three days is enough to make skin look hydrated, calm and even-toned enough to hold makeup well. It is not enough to fade pigmentation, clear active acne, shrink pores or remove scars — those run on 8–12 week timelines regardless of what you buy this week.
So the goal for the next 72 hours is narrow and achievable: hydrate, protect, sleep, and change nothing. Almost every disaster that shows up on Ashtami was a decision made in these three days.
The 72-hour plan
Day −3 (today): stop, do not start
Stop retinol, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C in high concentrations, and any exfoliating tool. Three days is exactly the window where a new active shows up as peeling or purging on the day you need clear skin. Keep only your cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen.
Also today: start drinking water properly and cut visibly salty food. Salt-driven puffiness is one of the few things that genuinely responds within 48 hours.
Day −2: hydration layering, morning and night
On slightly damp skin, apply a humectant layer — a hydrating toner or a glycerin/hyaluronic serum — then seal it with a moisturizer. Do this twice a day. Two days of consistent layering produces the plumper, light-reflecting surface that people read as "glow". Verified moisturizers · hydrating toners.
Tonight: a plain occlusive lip balm applied thickly before bed. Lips respond faster than any other area, and chapped lips ruin lipstick more visibly than any skin issue ruins foundation. Verified lip care.
Day −1: rehearse, do not experiment
- Do a full makeup test in daylight, with the exact base you plan to wear. Pilling, oxidising foundation and a mismatched shade are all discoverable today and unfixable tomorrow.
- Patch-test anything new or borrowed on the jaw, not the face.
- Sleep 7–8 hours. Under-eye puffiness and dullness are the two things sleep fixes faster than any product.
- Do not get a facial, a peel, threading of a new area, or a first-time salon treatment. Redness and small bumps need 3–7 days to settle, which you no longer have.
The morning of
Gentle cleanse → hydrating layer → moisturizer → sunscreen (SPF 50+) → base, giving each layer 2–3 minutes. Rushing the layers is the single most common cause of makeup pilling.
The one thing worth adding, if you add anything
If you insist on adding a product in these three days, make it a hydrating sheet mask you have used before — not a new one — on the night before, for 15–20 minutes. It does nothing lasting, but a hydrated surface on the morning of genuinely does help base makeup sit evenly.
If you have never used sheet masks, this is not the week to find out how your skin responds to one.
Things people try in these three days that backfire
- Steaming the face at home. It feels productive and typically leaves skin red and more reactive for a day or two.
- A DIY lemon, baking soda or toothpaste mask. All three disrupt skin pH or cause chemical burns on some skin. There is no version of this that is worth the risk 48 hours before a festival.
- Doubling the amount of your existing active to speed results up. Actives do not work faster at higher doses; they only irritate faster.
- Switching cleanser because a new one is on offer. A cleanser change takes 1–2 weeks to settle.
- Waxing the face at home the night before, which is the single most reliable way to be visibly red on Saptami morning.
Emergency fixes that are actually safe
- Puffy eyes: a cold spoon or chilled compress for 5 minutes. Not a new eye cream.
- A single angry spot: a hydrocolloid patch overnight. Do not squeeze it; squeezing turns a two-day spot into a two-week mark.
- Flaky patches under makeup: extra moisturizer and time, not a scrub. Scrubbing flakes off 24 hours before makes them worse, not better.
- Dull skin: hydration plus proper sleep. Nothing else moves this in three days.
If your skin is already reacting today
Sometimes the three days start badly — you already stopped an active too late, or a facial has left the face red. In that case the plan narrows further:
- Redness and stinging: cleanser, a fragrance-free ceramide moisturizer, sunscreen. Nothing else, including the hydrating serum. Most mild irritation settles measurably in 48–72 hours if you add nothing new to it.
- Peeling from an active: do not scrub or peel the flakes off. Layer a plain occlusive moisturizer over a damp face, morning and night, and choose a hydrating base rather than a matte one on the day.
- A sudden rash after a new product: stop that product immediately and do not try to "push through" it. A rash that is still spreading on the day of the festival is a medical question, not a skincare one — see a doctor rather than layering more products over it.
What not to buy in the next 72 hours
The festival week is when the most fakes move, and panic buying is exactly the state counterfeit sellers price for. Two specific traps:
1. "Instant glow" or "overnight fairness" creams. Products that visibly change skin within days frequently contain undeclared steroids or mercury. The visible result is real; so is the rebound acne, thinning and pigmentation that follows weeks later.
2. A suspiciously cheap version of a known product. An imported product carries freight, duty, VAT, clearing and transport costs before it can be sold. Selling far below that landed cost is not a discount — it usually means the item is counterfeit, expired, a smaller size, or an unaccountable grey import. According to the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) 2025 report, 86% of skincare sold online in Bangladesh is counterfeit. The full arithmetic is in why too-cheap skincare is fake.
If you must buy something in these three days, buy a lip balm, a moisturizer or a sunscreen — categories where a known-good product helps immediately — and check the batch code before paying.
If you have more time next year
Seven days is meaningfully better than three: see the 7-day pre-Puja plan. If budget rather than time is the constraint, the ৳1,500 routine covers it. And plan the nights in advance with the makeup-removal method, because that is where four-day damage accumulates.
