A Complete Puja Skincare Routine Under ৳1,500 (Bangladesh)

The four products, and nothing else

A full Puja routine needs four things: a gentle cleanser, a moisturizer, a sunscreen, and a lip balm. Buy those four well and you can skip serums, masks, toners and essences entirely for this festival. Four verified products land comfortably under ৳1,500 total; a ten-step routine of unverified products costs more and works worse.

The mistake is not spending too little. It is spending ৳1,500 across nine products, so every single one is too cheap to be real.

Where the ৳1,500 goes

1. Sunscreen — the largest share

Give sunscreen roughly a third to a half of the budget. Pandal-hopping is daytime sun exposure for hours at a stretch, and sunscreen is the only product here that prevents damage rather than treating it. Look for SPF 50+ with PA+++ or PA++++, and pick a texture you will actually reapply. Korean and Japanese fluids from stocked brands like Beauty of Joseon and Anua sit in this bracket. 2. Moisturizer — the second largest

A ceramide-based lotion or gel. This is the product that makes makeup sit evenly on Ashtami, because a hydrated surface reflects light instead of catching on dry patches. CeraVe and COSRX both have entry-priced options in this band. Verified moisturizers.

3. Cleanser — the smallest share of the three

A gentle, non-stripping face wash. You do not need a ৳1,200 cleanser; you need one that does not leave skin tight. Cleanser is the one category where paying more buys you the least. Verified cleansers.

4. Lip balm — under ৳400, and non-negotiable

Cracked lips show through every lipstick. A plain occlusive balm at ৳250–৳400 is the cheapest visible improvement you can buy before a festival. Verified lip care.

What to cut, in this order

If ৳1,500 is a hard ceiling, cut in this order: sheet masks first, then toner, then serum, then exfoliator. None of them do anything a cleanser-moisturizer-sunscreen base is not already doing for a four-day festival. A serum is a 8–12 week investment in pigmentation or texture; buying one on 22 September will not show a result by Ashtami.

What you should never cut: sunscreen and moisturizer. Cutting sunscreen to afford a serum is the single most common budget error before Puja.

Why a price far below landed cost is arithmetically impossible

This is the part nobody explains, so here is the arithmetic.

An imported skincare product reaches a Bangladeshi shelf through a fixed chain of costs: the overseas purchase price, international freight, customs duty and VAT at import, clearing-agent fees, local transport, and storage. Every one of those is paid before the product is ever listed for sale. Add them together and you get the landed cost — the floor. A legitimate importer cannot sell below it, because selling below it means paying money to hand stock away.

So when the same sunscreen that sits at one price across every invoice-verified seller appears somewhere at a fraction of that, there are only a few possible explanations, and none of them are "a better deal":

• The item is counterfeit — never imported, so it never paid duty or freight.
• The item is expired or near-expiry, dumped before it becomes unsellable.
• The item is a smaller travel or sachet size presented as full size.
• The item is a grey/parallel import with no accountable importer behind it, meaning no recourse if it is wrong.

According to the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) 2025 report, 86% of skincare sold online in Bangladesh is counterfeit. The practical rule: before the festival, when several sellers list a product within a narrow band and one lists it far below, treat the outlier as the suspect, not the bargain.

Making ৳1,500 stretch honestly

• Buy full sizes, not minis. Per millilitre, travel sizes are the most expensive skincare you can buy.
• One brand, one function. Do not buy two moisturizers because both looked good.

• Ignore anything promising results in three days. Products that visibly work that fast are usually steroid-containing creams, and the rebound arrives within weeks.
• Skip the "festival combo" bundles unless each item in them is individually verifiable. Bundles are the easiest way to slip one fake into a box of real products.

A worked example of the split

Budgets are easier to hold when the shares are decided before you open a shopping page. A workable split of ৳1,500 looks like this:

• Sunscreen: about 45% of the budget. The single item that prevents damage rather than treating it.
• Moisturizer: about 30%. The item that decides how your base makeup looks on the day.
• Cleanser: about 15%. Enough for a genuinely gentle wash; more than that buys very little extra.
• Lip balm: about 10%. The cheapest visible improvement available.

If a brand you want pushes one line over its share, take the difference out of the cleanser first, never out of the sunscreen. And if the totals do not fit, buy three products this month and the fourth next month rather than buying four unverifiable ones now.

Four days, four products

On the day: cleanse gently, moisturize, sunscreen, then base makeup. At night: remove properly in two steps, moisturize, sleep. That is the entire routine. It costs under ৳1,500 and it will outperform a shelf of unverified bottles.
