Quick answer
Morning sunscreen wears off by midday — and in the strong Bangladesh sun, one application is not enough. Here is how to reapply through the day, including over makeup, without a greasy mess.

Sunscreen wears down from sweat, oil and touching your face — after 2–3 hours it is no longer giving full protection. In Bangladesh’s intense UV, the single most common sunscreen mistake is applying once in the morning and forgetting it. See the sunscreen guide.
The rule
- Reapply every 2–3 hours when you are outdoors or near windows.
- Indoors all day away from windows? Morning application is usually enough.
- Reapply sooner after heavy sweating or swimming.
Reapplying on bare skin
Easy — just apply a normal amount again (two-finger lengths for the face) and blend.
Reapplying OVER makeup (without ruining it)
This is the real question. Do not rub liquid sunscreen over makeup — it smears. Instead:
- Sunscreen stick — swipe and gently pat; easiest over makeup.
- Sunscreen/SPF spray or mist — hold at a distance, mist evenly (use enough — a light spritz is not enough protection).
- SPF powder / cushion — convenient for touch-ups and oil control, but only if applied generously.
Bangladesh-specific tips
- Keep a stick or mist in your bag for midday top-ups.
- For an all-day outdoor event (a wedding, the Mela), plan reapplication — see the summer routine and Pohela Boishakh guide.
- Oily skin? Blot first, then reapply — do not skip it to avoid shine.
