Quick answer
Double cleansing means an oil-based cleanser first, then a water-based one. It is essential if you wear sunscreen or makeup — but not everyone needs it every day. Here is the honest guide for Bangladesh.

Two steps, at night:
1. Oil-based cleanser (or micellar water/cleansing balm) — dissolves oil-based grime: sunscreen, makeup, sebum, pollution.
2. Water-based cleanser (your normal face wash) — removes sweat, dirt and the residue.
The logic: water and oil do not mix, so a water cleanser alone cannot fully remove oil-based sunscreen or makeup.
Do YOU need it?
- Yes, at night, if you wear sunscreen or makeup (and you *should* wear sunscreen — see the sunscreen guide). SPF is designed to cling, so one wash often leaves residue that clogs pores.
- Oily / acne-prone skin benefits most — leftover sunscreen/sebum is a common cause of clogged pores and blackheads.
- Not needed in the morning — just a gentle water cleanse or rinse.
- Dry / sensitive skin: do not over-do it; a gentle balm + a mild second cleanser, and never twice in the morning.
How to do it (night)
Oil cleanser on dry skin, massage, add a little water to emulsify, rinse → then your normal cleanser → serum → moisturiser. See serum vs moisturiser and the layering order.
Do not overdo it
Cleansing 3–4 times a day or scrubbing hard strips the barrier and makes oily skin oilier. Twice a day max; morning light, night thorough.
