Quick answer
Long festival days mean makeup on for 12+ hours. The damage is rarely the makeup itself — it is what happens before and after.

Twelve hours of foundation does not ruin skin on its own. Clogged pores and breakouts come from skipping the barrier before, and skipping a proper cleanse after.
1. Before — moisturizer and sunscreen are the barrier
Base applied on bare, dry skin sits in every pore and texture gap.
2. During — blot, do not re-layer
Adding powder over oil all day builds a film that is much harder to remove.
3. After — remove in two steps
An oil or micellar first to dissolve makeup and sunscreen, then a gentle cleanser. One foaming wash does not remove water-resistant sunscreen.
4. That night — repair, do not treat
Skip acids and retinol. Use a barrier moisturizer.
