Quick answer
Dry-sensitive skin has the least margin for error of any type. Almost every problem it has improves once the barrier does — and almost every active makes it worse first.

Dry skin makes fewer lipids to begin with. Sensitive skin reacts faster when that lipid layer thins. Together they mean the barrier is the problem *and* the solution — so treating dark spots or fine lines before repairing it simply does not work.
1. Four weeks of barrier only
Gentle cleanser, humectant on damp skin, ceramide moisturizer, sunscreen. Nothing else. Most "sensitivity" resolves here.
2. Cream cleanser, once a day
Water only in the morning is fine. A foaming sulphate cleanser is the single most common cause of this skin feeling worse.
3. Seal within a minute
On damp skin, every time. This matters more than which moisturizer you buy.
4. Introduce one active, at the lowest strength, buffered
Moisturizer first, then the active on top. Twice a week. Azelaic acid and niacinamide are the gentlest useful options.
5. Winter is not the time to start anything
Dhaka humidity drops below 40% from November — a compromised barrier plus a new active is how a bad month begins.
When it is not just dryness
Red, itchy, weeping or spreading patches may be eczema, which is medical and improves with a doctor's help rather than a richer cream.
