Quick answer
Most shops source products and sell them. TheSkinProof puts a verification process between the source and you: every product passes through our hands — invoice, batch, seal and expiry checked — before it reaches yours.
Want the authentic one? Every product on TheSkinProof is invoice-verified.
How to buy authentic skincare →What most shops do is simple: they get products from somewhere and sell them. Whether a product is genuine, which batch it came from and how long it has before it expires are questions the buyer is left to answer. TheSkinProof does not work that way. We are not just a seller — we are a verification process that sits between the source and you. Every product passes through our hands before it reaches yours, and that is where it is checked against evidence.
A shop versus a verification process
In an ordinary shop, "100% authentic" is a claim. In a verification process it is a step, and the step leaves evidence. Three questions show the difference:
- Who checks? In a shop, nobody — or you. At TheSkinProof, our team, before the product ships.
- What is the proof? In a shop, someone's word. At TheSkinProof, the importer's invoice, the batch number and a verification card that travels with the product.
- What happens if it is fake? In a shop, usually an argument. At TheSkinProof, 2× your money back.
A product's journey before it reaches you
1. Source and invoice. Before any product is listed on our site, its source paperwork is required — the importer's invoice and a photo of the batch number. If the paperwork does not match, the product is not listed.
2. Into our hands. When stock arrives, every unit is handled and checked: does the batch code match the invoice, is the seal intact, are the print and packaging right, how long until it expires. If any of these is off, that unit is rejected.
3. Stored properly. Actives such as vitamin C, retinol and acids can break down in heat. So verified stock is kept away from heat in a controlled environment — so that an authentic product still arrives at full strength.
4. Packed and shipped by us. Our team packs each order itself and adds a verification card. Nobody can swap the product on the way.
5. In your hands. When the parcel arrives you can match the card with the batch number on the product. For products whose documents have been uploaded, the "Verification" tab on the product page also shows the invoice and the batch photo. Every step is explained in Behind the 4 checks.
How sellers join TheSkinProof
Not just anyone can start selling on TheSkinProof. A seller must first submit business documents, which our team checks before approving the account. Even after approval, every new product is reviewed on its own — if the invoice and batch photo do not match, the product does not go live. So the seller is verified, and each of their products is verified separately. Those two layers are what keep counterfeits from getting onto the shelf in the first place.
Four things to check when your parcel arrives
Our checks are done before shipping, but you can confirm for yourself in under a minute:
- Product name and size — do they match the verification card and your order?
- Batch number — does the batch printed on the product match the card?
- Expiry date — is there enough time left?
- Seal — is it intact, not opened or torn?
If anything looks wrong, do not use the product — tell us straight away.
Why the process matters
Today's fakes look exactly like the real thing — the same colours, the same fonts, sometimes even a similar hologram. Telling them apart by eye is close to impossible. A fake or expired product will not improve your skin; it can cause breakouts, irritation or marks, and it wastes your money.
The problem in the market is not only outright fakes. Three risks come up most often: genuine bottles refilled with something else and resold, expired stock relabelled with a new date, and near-expiry stock dumped at a low price. All three look genuine from the outside. Because our process matches the invoice, batch number, seal and expiry together, these are caught.
So the answer is not to inspect the packaging but to verify the source. A product whose invoice and batch match, that has been physically checked and properly stored, is one you can use with confidence. Doing that work for you, before you ever see the product, is what TheSkinProof is for.
If a product is proven fake
We do not just make promises; we take responsibility. If a product bought from TheSkinProof is ever proven counterfeit, you get 2× the order value back. You need to tell us within 7 days of delivery, and this guide sets out the full policy. A double-refund promise means a single fake would cost us far more than the sale was worth — so being careful at every step is in our own interest too.
If you buy somewhere else
Not everyone will buy everything from us. Before or after buying elsewhere, check the product photo with our free product checker, and ask the seller to show the import invoice. This guide shows how to read a batch code, and this one explains what "invoice-verified" actually means.

Frequently asked questions
Are products from TheSkinProof authentic?
Yes. TheSkinProof is not just a seller but a verification process: every product is matched to its importer invoice and batch number before it is listed, physically checked for seal, batch and expiry before it ships, and sent with a verification card. If a product is ever proven fake, you get 2× your money back.
How is TheSkinProof different from an ordinary online shop?
An ordinary shop sources products and sells them, leaving the checking to the buyer. TheSkinProof checks every product itself before it reaches you — invoice, batch, seal and expiry — and refunds 2× if a product is proven fake.
Can I see the invoice or batch for a product?
For products whose documents have been uploaded, the "Verification" tab on the product page shows the invoice and batch photo. You can also match the verification card in your parcel with the batch number on the product.
What if a product from TheSkinProof turns out to be fake?
Tell us within 7 days of delivery. If the product is proven counterfeit, you get 2× the order value back.
Can packaging alone tell me whether a seller is a shop or a verification process?
Packaging alone usually cannot tell you that, since convincing fakes can look nearly identical on the outside. What actually differs is proof — ask whether the seller can show the importer invoice and batch number behind that specific unit.
Does the verification process cover every skincare brand?
The products actually listed go through the invoice-and-batch check, so coverage is brand and product specific rather than a blanket guarantee. Check the current product listing to see whether the item you want is covered.
